The second generation of FANSe comes: FANSe2.
The new features:

  • FANSe2 maintained the accuracy of FANSe while largely accelerates the mapping. The speedup can be 30-160x for single core.
  • FANSe2 supports parallelization. It can use multiple cores in a single computer, and also can use all cores of multiple computers connected with Gigabit LAN. In our test, we mapped an entire Illumina HiSeq-2000 flowcell (608M reads) to human genome within 4.1 hours using 3 normal office computers ($600 each).
  • FANSe2 offers graphical user interface under Windows. Now the mapping is a one-click job!
  • FANSe2 fully supports multiple chromosomes.

    To minimize the confusion, the version number of the first generation of FANSe is updated to FANSe 1.7.2.

    FANSe的第二代版本FANSe2研制成功!

    新特性:
  • FANSe2保持了FANSe的高精确度,但大大加快了mapping速度。单核速度增加30-160倍。
  • FANSe2支持并行运算。它可以利用一台计算机的多个CPU核心,也可以利用多台联网的计算机。这使得它可以拥有惊人的速度。我们的测试中,它可以将一整张Illumina HiSeq-2000 flowcell 所产出的数据 608M reads 向人类参考基因组上比对,使用三台普通的台式机(每台价值仅4000元人民币),耗时仅4.1小时。
  • FANSe2提供Windows下的图形用户界面(GUI)。现在,mapping的工作就是点点鼠标而已,非常方便。
  • FANSe2完全支持多染色体等多参考序列。

    为了避免混淆,第一代 FANSe 的版本号更改为 FANSe 1.7.2.

    FANSe 1.7.2 released, added the "-U" option (unidirectional) for strand specific mapping, which facilitates the application mapping reads to mRNA reference sequence.
    From FANSe 1.7.2 version, FANSe supports only 64-bit operating systems.
    FANSe 1.7.2 版本发布,增加了-U选项,用于单向比对,在mRNA参考序列比对时会很有用。
    从1.7.2版开始,FANSe只支持64位操作系统。

    FANSe 1.7.1 released with following updates:

    • The -B option ("best") is optimized.
    • Minor bug fixes.
    • Default values are provided.
    • Optimization for linux. In our tests, using the linux-x64 version can yield 30-35% speedup than win32 version in some cases.
    • Improvements on manual.

    FANSe 1.7.1 版本发布,有以下改进:

    • 强制最佳匹配选项 -B 得到优化
    • 改进一些小错误
    • 提供默认参数选项
    • 为Linux下编译运行进行代码优化。在Linux-64位平台下,可比win32平台下运行速度提高30-35%。
